Technology based Payments Mechanisms

  • In order to further improve the payment mechanism, technology based solutions are being explored by BISP.
  • The new mechanisms enable the BISP to execute the payments in a shorter span of time and to do a real time reconciliation of payments. Systems are also designed to address the payment complaints in a more efficient way.
  • Payment through the Benazir Smart Card has been initiated in four districts on a Pilot basis. The cards are produced and issued by NADRA and the payments are made by a Bank through a network of franchisees and a core banking application.
  • The Benazir Smart Card is a modern payment mechanism and ensures efficient and transparent disbursement of financial assistance to the BISP beneficiaries.
  • Payment through the Benazir Mobile Banking has been initiated in 5 districts on a Pilot basis. In this mechanism Cash Grants to BISP beneficiaries through Mobile Banking in Mobile banking districts .i.e. Larkana, Layyah, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Batagram. BISP along with its partners NADRA, Banks (HBL, UBL, Summit and Tameer) and Telecom Partners (Ufone and Telenor) are jointly working on the said project. BISP runs campsites from tehsil offices where Partner Banks are responsible to open accounts for beneficiaries and Telecom Partners are responsible for issuance of SIM cards along with handsets against the bank accounts to these beneficiaries. These beneficiaries then receive their monthly Cash Grants from BISP through this P2P mechanism.
  • After a detailed analysis BISP has decided to rollout the Benazir Debit Card systems across the country for its beneficiaries as payment mechanism which is more efficient and easy to use for its beneficiaries In this mechanism BISP along with its partners NADRA & Banks are jointly working on the said project. BISP runs campsites at tehsil level where Partner Banks are responsible to open accounts and issuance of Benazir Debit cards to BISP beneficiaries. These beneficiaries then receive their monthly Cash Grants from BISP through this Debit Card mechanism.
